Gould & Ratner is pleased to announce that Hrishikesh H. Shah has joined the firm as a partner in its Corporate and Tax Practices, with a focus on handling employee benefits and executive compensation matters.

“We are thrilled to have Hrishi join our team, and we welcome the additional depth he brings specifically to handling the often complex aspects of benefits and compensation involved in our corporate transactions,” said Rob Chidester, Chair of Gould & Ratner’s Corporate Practice.  “We’re also looking forward to his helping a large portion of our clients with a wide variety of their needs when it comes to more general aspects of employee benefits and executive compensation.”

For employers, Shah advises on the design and administration aspects of a wide variety of retirement plans, welfare plans and fringe benefits.  He also helps employers craft executive compensation and incentive arrangements, as well as work through compliance issues, including the ramifications of the Internal Revenue Code’s Section 409A.

Shah also regularly counsels plan sponsors on compliance issues related to various federal laws, including ERISA, the Affordable Care Act, HIPAA, COBRA and applicable requirements of the Internal Revenue Code.

A significant portion of Shah’s practice is providing benefits support on large and complex corporate transactions, including the negotiation of purchase agreements, due diligence, and mitigation of risks related to benefits and compensation arrangements, including managing issues related to the “golden parachute” rules of Code Section 280G.

Shah earned his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and his bachelor’s degree from Penn State University.
